Art therapy aided me in accessing feelings I could refer to only obliquely in words. For someone as highly verbal as I am, it was an interesting experiment in bypassing my left-brain tendencies and tapping into my right-brain emotions, which I had been very, very good at burying for so long.
In time, and with continued self-discovery through art and talk therapy, I was able to come to terms with some of the bottled-up emotions I’d spent so much time suppressing.
