The inspiration for this experiment came from a friend of mine who has bipolar disorder and said that at the time he slit his wrists he felt that the blood was like a ribbon leading him on the way to heaven. The balloon itself is fragile and easily broken, and so are people with bipolar disorder, who can easily be influenced by the outside world and thus aggravate their condition.

Fill the balloon with paint and mix with a small amount of water.

The balloon is poked with a needle and paint splashes out of the burst balloon, creating a trail on the wall.
